Knowledge Management: From Rhetoric to Implementation

Objectives:

• Formulation of a knowledge management strategy with a focus on knowledge management architecture (domain mapping, systems and technology, and people-related issues)

• Designing knowledge management programmes

• Implementing knowledge management programmes

For: This programme is designed for senior managers, functional heads and executives who are responsible for the implementation of knowledge management programme in their organizations. Organizations (public/ private/ government) interested in KM implementation can also sponsor the concerned core team to this programme.

Contents: The programme will dwell upon the following issues: -

• Formulating a KM strategy

  • KM objectives

  • KM assessment/ measurement

• Designing KM programmes

  • Knowledge architecture (knowledge mapping/ identification of knowledge domains)

  • Knowledge systems and technology

  • People issues (including leadership support and managing change)

• Implementing KM programmes

  • Organizational learning

  • Developing a knowledge-sharing culture (story telling and communities of practice)

• Sharing of successful KM implementations

As part of action planning, participants would be identifying organization-specific knowledge domains, designing knowledge systems, and dealing with people/ culture issues. It would be desirable if the participants are well versed with their company environment, corporate strategy, and KM strategy (if any).
