FMS Delhi to hold Annual Seminar - Serveskriti

FMS has been a trailblazer in quality management education with special focus on developing 'Thought-Leadership' in its students.

In keeping with its pioneering spirit, FMS, in its golden jubilee year, has started the MBA (Management of Services) to specifically cater to the needs of the service sector. The course is the only one of its kind in the country today and has been designed specifically to bridge the gap between demand & supply of quality managers across various spheres in the service industry. To provide students with a holistic perspective, theoretical knowledge is supplemented by practical experience and corporate interaction. An important step in this direction is the Annual Seminar.

Centered on the core theme 'India Repositioned: At Your Service', the annual seminar deliberates contemporary service sector issues with business leaders, academicians and leading management thinkers.

Management of Services: Catalyst to Economic Growth

Traditionally, the service sector has been considered as a support for the primary and secondary sectors. But, the past decade has seen the emergence of the service industry as India's torchbearer in the global arena. As India inches towards becoming the global service powerhouse, it becomes imperative to evaluate its business drivers.

With firms becoming more homogenous in their product offerings, it is the level of service provided that is turning out to be the key differentiator. Henceforth, the role of services has shifted from value addition to value creation. Branding of services, thus, has become all the more important. The biggest challenge for the service sector is to put across the Tangible Benefits of an Intangible Product. But how does a business go about it? How does a business identify and build upon its USP? How do the various regulation/deregulation policies and guidelines of global governing bodies affect the service economies worldwide?

The changes brought about by the service wave have touched the shores of our socio-cultural values. Thus, it becomes imperative to evaluate the sea change brought about by this wave. How can organizations enable their people to tide over this change? Further, is business the only business of an organization?

Of late, India has been identified with the service sector. We envisage a future wherein it is the other way round - where services are automatically identified with Brand 'India'.
