IIM Bangalore
Creativity, Reinvention and Self Enhancement
for Practicing Managers
Programme Directors: Prof. Ramnath Narayanswamy
December 06-10, 2004
Overview: The purpose of the program lies in
(a) exposing practicing managers to the creative process,
(b) embed a respect and confidence in their creative selves and
(c) help managers to internalise their own creative strengths in their vocations.
We propose to accomplish these objectives by
(a) putting participants through a three day workshop on team-building, role internalization and self-interrogation through the medium of theatre
(b) helping participants in tapping their creative arsenal and
(c) by incorporating a module on self-development that enables them to exploit their potential.
For: We are looking for middle or senior managers across industries who currently engage challenging responsibilities and are looking for creative solutions. This is a capacity building program in developing creative and emotional intelligence. It will be useful for senior managers seeking to embed creative processes within their organizations that result in innovation.
Programme Contents Teamwork is based on supportiveness, spontaneity, adaptation and empowerment. Participants will be exposed to exercises that enable them to overcome the gap between idea and expression, give up self-censorship and take risks without the fear of being penalized. This sends out positive messages of acceptance, disarming team members and newcomers instead of transmitting negative messages of denial rooted in the ego.
Participants will also be exposed to adaptation exercises through which we learn to give way and co-operate instead of being stiff and resistant to other's feelings and ideas. Adaptation exercises help participants help in making you sensitive and responsive to inner feelings, your own and those of others. It also helps in creative problem solving in group settings such as brainstorming, strategizing and setting up collective aspirations and outcomes. They enhance your learning to empower people in your group being versatile with status, rather than getting stuck because of habit or learnt behavior, in playing as it you always occupy a high or low status in relation to others.
Fees: Rs. 30,000/- for residential participants and Rs. 26,000/- for non-residential participants. Non-residential participants are most welcome to attend.
