Introduction:

• Most corporations undertake ex ante planning in order to function effectively. The planning could be for short-term or long-term. For effective planning, managers should have knowledge of the most basic tools employed in corporate planning.
  
  Important business decisions ranging from location of a business activity to estimating the demand for a product, to production planning, are all dependent on appropriate planning. While managers in various functional areas do plan their corporate activity, very often, they use imprecise methods to plan, which lead to inaccurate results. This can be especially disastrous in today's business environment that has become increasingly competitive due to globalization. Therefore, knowledge of tools and techniques that can be employed in corporate planning is crucial to effectively plan various business activities for the future, and survive in the globalized environment of today.
