Objectives: The programme would be primarily focused on sensitizing the participants about the context of team working, including cross-functional teams, project/functional teams, and virtual teams; dynamics of working together; building a team orientation; getting things done by mobilizing support of others; resolving interpersonal differences; handling diversity in the team; agenda setting and managing performance in the team; issues in team problem solving; team leadership; strategies for building team culture; and developing inter-team collaboration.



BUILDING COMPETITIVE EDGE THROUGH ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE
Programme Directors: Prof. Pankaj Kumar
Duration: September 22-24, 2003
Venue: IIML Campus

Objectives: The workshops aims at exploring various aspects of organizational culture and uses a variety of methods to ensure effective learning in a practical context including tutor led discussion, pair and group discussion, case studies, instrument application and simulation exercises. The intra and inter cultural aspects of organizational culture will be dealt in organization specific background. All sessions will ensure that the practical implications for cultural management are related to organizational backgrounds of the participants.



TRANSFORMING GENERATION UTILITIES UNDER ELECTRICITY INDUSTRY REFORMS

Objectives: It is imperative for electricity generation utilities in India to overhaul their management systems to improve efficiency and reliability in the liberalized industry. This programme will help participants understand Implications of Electricity Bill 2003 for generation utilities; international trends in power generation industry; cutting edge techniques in generation operations, maintenance, materials management, financial planning, human resource systems, organization structure design, technology and capacity expansion planning, and information technology (MIS) applications in generation utility management.



CORPORATE COMMUNICATION & MEDIA RELATIONS

Objectives: Increase awareness about the recent developments in the Corporate Communication initiatives; Hone strategic skills, necessary for developing effective Media Relations; Identify and bridge gaps in successful implementation of CCMR Initiatives; Improve presentation skills for better CCMR Initiatives; Enhance organizational communication within and outside the organization.



ENHANCING MANAGERIAL CAPABILITY THROUGH STRESS MANAGEMENT

Objectives:

  • To help managers understand the phenomenon of stress in self and others.
  • To examine what stress does to managerial capability.
  • To identify and list sources of stress in work and non-work situations.
  • To help managers in identifying and utilizing their personal support system for coping with stress.
  • To provide managers with insights and techniques for managing stress.
  • To provide managers with alternatives regarding long-term stress reduction.



TRANSFORMING TRANSMISSION AND DISTRIBUTION UTILITIES UNDER ELECTRICITY INDUSTRY REFORMS

Duration: September 25-27, 2003
Venue: IIML Campus

Objectives: The programme will help participants understand the domestic and international power sector scenario; understand Electricity Bill 2003and its implications for Transmission and Distribution utilities; learn modern management techniques in transmission and distribution network operations, maintenance, customer interface management, human resource and organization structure design, forecasting and network expansion planning; and hands-on experience of Information Technology (MIS/GIS) applications.
