Kerala based Meditrina Hospitals Raises $ 6 Million from Matrix Partners

Meditrina Hospitals started by Cardiologist Dr. N Prathap Kumar provides cardiology services in Tier II and Tier III cities by tying up with local hospitals and setting up Speciality in Hospital (SIH) concept.

This makes the model asset light.

Meditrina hospital started in 2010 has four units focussed on interventional cardiology in South and Central Kerala and a super speciality hospital in Kollam. Meditrina aims to provide high quality care in best in class infrastructure at an affordable cost. The company will use the funds to increase its presence. The company plans to open speciality in hospitals in Hyderabad and Bhubaneswar.

Meditrina has tapped several cardiologists willing to join the team in near future. In the next five years, Meditrina aims to grow pan India into a strong network of 20 SIHs supported by two strategically located centres of excellence. These super specialty hospitals will also offer allied services such as nephrology and urology.

Matrix Partners with AUM of Rs. 3,000 crores has invested in companies which include Centre for Sight (eye care chain), Cloudnine (Maternity and infant care chain), Mewar Ortho (Orthopedic care chain), Enhance (Cosmetology chain), Muthoot Finance (gold loan NBFC), Quikr (online classifieds), Tree House Education (preschools), U2opia (social mobile apps), Ver se Innovation (mobile classifieds) and Twist Mobile (mobile games) among others.
