Skymet Weather raises $ 4.5 Million, Series B funding from DMGT and existing investor, Omnivore

Skymet, a weather based business solution provider to media, power, shipping and telecom industry has raised Series B funding from dmg-information Asia Pacific Pte Ltd., a subsidiary of British media conglomerate Daily Mail and General Trust plc (DMGT) and the existing investor-Omnivore.

Omnivore had invested $ 700,000 in Skymet Weather in August 2011. The company will use the funds to expand its weather monitoring network and introduce new instrumentation for tracking hail and frost. The company will also use the fund to conduct research to develop weather forecasting and crop area//yield forecasting and to expand its market in other countries.


Skymet Weather started by Jatin Singh in 2003 by providing weather forecast to ‘The Hindustan Times’ has grown its business solutions to predicting weather, enhancing data dissemination, weather prediction up-to village level and providing weather prediction up-to 7 months including monsoon. The company provides risk management services to power, renewable energy (Solar and Wind), aviation, construction and food and beverage industry in India.
