IBM Carpe-Diem 2005 Besides dance and drama, Carpe-Diem also showcased musical talent and ably so, for it brought together musical talent from far and wide to enthrall audiences on all the three days reiterating that youth and music are inseparable. Armageddon - the mother of all battles - saw intense competition from the competing bands. Such was the talent at display that one’s heart went out for those who could not make it to the finals, particularly for ‘Euthanasia’, a band of kids all below the age of 15 years from St. James who belted out tracks after tracks which the audiences lapped up. The eventual winners of Armageddon were ‘Superfuzz’ with St. Xaviers bagging the best vocalists award and ‘Hobos’ getting the award for best guitarist. Apart from Armageddon, the big battle of professional bands, Carpe-Diem also featured a spellbinding performance by ‘Orient Express’. Orient Express was an eye-opener with its mix of Latino-Hawaiian music. They were amazing at drums and the vocalist was very impressive. They enthralled all and people couldn’t stop their feet from moving in sync with their music. A fitting finale to the three day long festival was the show by ‘Indian Ocean’. The audiences braved the cold and the fog to witness a mesmerizing performance by the group who churned out numbers after numbers from their most popular album Kandisa along with a few from Desert Rain and Jhini. The one song from Black Friday was superb and everybody was looking forward to laying their hands on the new album. Carpe-Diem in its very first edition has set a precedent which promises tons of excitement for years to come. ... Seize the day, Live while you can, Savour the moment... Concluded.
