Mr. Timken holds many important positions. He is the Chairman of the board of the Securities Investor Protection Corporation and is also a director of Diebold, Incorporated. Talking about Organizational structure, he said that organisations faced constant threat of change from their customers, competitors and the government. Under such circumstances, it is only with the help of best ideas from best people that such changes can be countered effectively, which is why, according to him, it was important to have flat organisations.

According to Mr. Timken, the entanglement between the public and private sector was one of the key issues facing India. He went on to elaborate how he thought having a good government was most important to the growth of the private sector and that it was important that the public sector be made more aware and accountable about their responsibility.

Mr. Timken also emphasised the need for attention to basic infrastructure such as railways, power, and primary education for the quick development of Indian industry. He pointed out increasing population and corruption as the biggest hindrances to the progress of India and said that a concerted effort from the public and private sector is required to overcome these obstacles.
