Job Description:

The company is seeking to recruit Senior Analysts to spear-head research coverage across key sectors such as Tele-communications, Cement, Construction and Real Estate, Petro-chemicals / Oil & Gas, Industrials, etc. Coverage will ultimately encompass the broader GCC markets (MCap $ of 820 billion with an estimated MSCI Emerging Market weight of ~5.5%) which has been recently termed the most attractive value markets by Emerging Market Strategists at both CSFB and Merrill Lynch.
Key responsibilities will include research on companies within a specified sector. Apart from research reports, team members will be expected to capitalize / generate value for clients through road-shows, research events, conference calls with managements of companies, facilitating strategy and thematic research pieces for the team, etc.
Some openings are based in Bahrain, while others are based in Saudi Arabia. The role will require occasional travel to meet clients, company managements across the region and visits to team / company offices in other countries. The team is expected to benefit from training / interaction with the team at GS and an ultimate integration of research products.

NCBC has over 300 employees spread over Bahrain and Saudi Arabia and manages the parent's very sizeable securities, investment management and investment banking operations. In Feb '07, the company entered into an MoU with Goldman Sachs (GS) - one of the world's oldest and largest global investment banking firms which envisages a strategic agreement between the companies to co-operate across a broad range of business areas including investment management, securities, investment banking and principal investing. Candidate Profile:
  • The company is open to recruiting talent from outside the GCC region, though candidates with high quality exposure to the GCC markets will be given preference.

  • Ideally a minimum of 3 years equities research experience with institutions of repute (either buy side or sell side).

  • An analyst with an insightful, probing mind - who knows the nuts & bolts of good quality institutional research and can replicate these skill sets in a new exciting geography.

  • Must be self confident and ambitious - a person who is willing to put in the effort and dedication to rise to the top amongst his/her peers.

  • Collegiate by nature - willing to work as part of a close-knit team with a common goal - open-minded, and flexible with a can-do attitude.

  • Well-organized, hard-working, analytical and highly disciplined; able to work well under pressure.

  • Excellent communication skills - able to explain and justify investment rationale and thought process.

  • Candidates with Arabic language skills would be preferred.

  • Ideally a CFA (or Level 3 Candidate) with an MBA or excellent academic qualifications from a leading university.

  • Familiarity with research platforms like Bloomberg, Reuters, Zawya, etc.
