How do you see ISME after five years?

ISME's focus will be in the field of management, which includes management research in partnership with top faculty across the world, management training that includes full-time and corporate training programmes and management consulting. ISME will be among the top business schools in India and will become prominent across the world. ISME will be the top educational institute in the field of management for training future industry leaders, helping top corporations for solving their business issues and contributing towards world class research.

What kind of background and profile do you prefer in students?

ISME's existing class is a diverse mix of students from over 10 different states. They are equally divided between engineering, commerce and computer background. About a third of the class has work experience of over one year.

We believe that diversity adds to the learning experience. ISME admission process does not prefer any particular background (with the exception of work experience) but focuses more on how the candidate has excelled in the following areas - academic, extra-curricular, work experience, communication skills, intellect, leadership abilities and creativity.

What is the CAT cut-off (or other exams' which ISME accepts) percentile at ISME?

The scores of the current class have not been disclosed but after talking to the admissions committee the admission criteria with regard to the score is - Students who have a CAT score of over 70 percentile or over 600 in GMAT are preferred. ISME accepts other scores but the admission criterion is more stringent. Since the evaluation is on seven different parameters (academic, extra-curricular, work experience, communication skills, intellect, leadership abilities and creativity), if the candidates feel that they excel in other areas, they are open to applying at ISME. According to the admissions committee, given the number of applications being received this year, it is likely that most students will have a score well above 70 percentile.

What advice would you like to give people who might have a good CAT score but not so good academic performance in past?

ISME's focus is on the over-all academic performance during the complete academic career of the candidate. While CAT scores are important, given a choice between two candidates, ISME will prefer a candidate with a slightly lower CAT but with a better overall academic record. This is based on the fact that industry values consistent performance.
