1. How does an MBA heIp me?

The essence of management education is to help train one for a managerial position. Being a professional qualification, MBA 'adds' to an individual's skills and knowledge gained from the basic graduate or post-graduate degree, thereby enabling him/her to contribute professionally as a manager.
An MBA today is a popular post-graduate program because it provides well-paid jobs and a secure future.

In the current global economic scenario, the reach and scale of operations are a necessity as companies are diversified and multi-faceted. This increases the scope of an MBA substantially as an MBA helps a person in understanding not only the structure and operation of a business but also in inspiring others in leading the cause of their organization. The 'MBA experience' is a foundation for undertaking leadership roles throughout an individual's career. It is an alternative route to exploit the full potential of an individual as it improves his personal value by extending his ability and reach.

2. Reasons contributing to the popularity of MBA

Some of the reasons contributing to the popularity of MBA are: -

MBA has become an entry-level qualification in most organizations today. Students from any stream (Arts, Science, Commerce, Engineering, Pharma, etc.) are eligible.

Ordinary graduates face professional stagnation within a couple of years in many organizations. Companies consider performance, along with a professional qualification, a prime contributor for an employee's promotion. Hence, MBA helps graduates with work experience break corporate growth barriers.

3. What are the specializations available in most B-schools? How do I choose a specialization?

While the list of specializations offered by management institutes is expanding each year, the broad areas that students can specialize in are: -

  • Marketing

  • Finance

  • Human Resources (HR)

  • Systems

  • Operations
