7. Specialized Programs: Rural Management, International Trade, Advertising, Fashion Technology, and more...

Apart from the regular curriculum and specializations like Finance, Marketing, Systems etc., there are certain institutes dedicated to the pursuit of singular specializations.
As a student, if you are certain about your future career course, then applying to these institutes in addition to the regular institutes is a must for you.

8. What is the eligibility to do an MBA?

A second-class Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, with minimum 50% marks (45% for SC/ST candidates) in any faculty is the usual requirement for any management institute. However, some management institutes like the IIMs ask for just a Bachelor's degree in any discipline. Percentage is no consideration. There is no eligibility criterion to take the CAT. However, one should take the CAT depending on the criteria set by the institute he/she wants to apply to.

In all cases, candidates appearing for their degree exams in the current academic year are eligible to appear for the entrance tests.

9. Selection Process

Given the large number of applicants, the institutes eliminate students at each stage to arrive at the final list of candidates.

Stage I - The Test: Most institutes hold their tests between November and January. Most of the institutes conduct paper-based tests, but for a few of them, it is online. The call-letter is only sent to students who qualify the test.

Stage 2 - The Group Discussion & the Personal Interview: This stage of the process is always held between February and March for most institutes.

Stages 3 - The Final Call for Admission: After having cleared the above two stages, candidates receive that all-important Final Call Letter of Selection. Candidates are required to pay the first installment of the fees at this stage.
