1. General Questions

Background

Q. Can you tell something about yourself and your pre-MBA qualifications?
A. I have done Bachelor's of Engineering in Electronics & Communications in First Division with Honours from Punjab University, Chandigarh, in 2006, where I stood 4th in the University. Post-engineering, I worked for around 21 months with Communications, Media & Entertainment Industry Business Unit of Infosys Technologies Limited.

Q. So when did you decide to go for MBA?
A. I didn't have any inclination towards MBA during my Engineering studies. However, after entering into Infosys and getting some work-experience, I realized the need for doing MBA.

Q. What was your first step to start preparation for getting into the school of your choice?
A. My first step was to improve my written and spoken English and to improve my vocabulary. I used to solve match-up exercises of www.thefreedictionary.com for improving my vocabulary. I decided to join the test-series of some national leader in MBA coaching to prepare for my upcoming exams.

Q. Which MBA institutes and programs you identified for your MBA?
A. I applied to many institutes including IIMs, XLRI-Jamshedpur, FMS-Delhi, SPJIMR-Mumbai, MDI-Gurgaon, IIFT-Delhi, SCMHRD-Pune, IITs, SIOM-Nashik, SIIB-Pune. Although I had identified a few programmes such as Finance, Operations, Information Management, Telecom Management and International Business, yet my first priority was to get into a reasonably good B-school and then decide my MBA programme.
