Corridors of Power at TISS, Mumbai

Q. Does TISS, Mumbai offer specific programmes related to any particular sector, or is it catering to any particular group?

TISS is primarily an institution associated with the teaching programmes that respond to the changing social realities through the development and application of knowledge, towards creating a people-centered and ecologically-sustainable society that promotes and protects the dignity, equality, social justice, and human rights for all with special emphasis on marginalized and vulnerable groups.

Q. Are Management Development Programmes (MDPs) planned for the academic year 2008-09?

The Management Development Programmes organized by the Centre for Social & Organizational Leadership of School of Management & Labour Studies are mostly customized as per the requirements of the companies. However, the centre plans to roll out its Training Calendar from the Academic Year 2009-10.

Q. What are the advantages that TISS, Mumbai offers over other management institutions of the country where HRM education is concerned?

The curriculum of TISS includes a two-days compulsory field-work training to the students who are attached with different organizations during their academic schedule. This attachment provides hands-on exposure to the students about different systems of companies, and subsequently, links it with class-room teaching. NGO Placements at the end of 4th semester give an exposure to the social set-up and challenges. The field-work exposure is the USP of TISS. Of course, the placements reflect the quality of teaching and students.
