Excellence in School Education through Leadership

Objectives:

  • To sensitize the participants to the purpose of education, the notion of excellence in education its instrumentalities, as well as methods of strategic planning and implementation in schools besides enhancing their competencies to effectively address the challenges of the 21st century


  • To learn the art of stimulating a positive work culture through leadership qualities and skills and to explore leadership and managerial dimensions that are responsible, responsive, result-oriented, stakeholder centric, inclusive, innovative, change and growth oriented
  • To acquaint the participants with the changing role of educational leadership in the context of globalization besides helping them in appreciating the place of values and culture in the present educational system for identifying options and evolving choices
  • To identify key issues, challenges and opportunities to enhance the quality, motivation and commitment of teachers in the teaching-learning process in pursuit of excellence and to facilitate an exciting work ambience and work culture at the physical, social, emotional and intellectual levels
  • To bring radical change in the role of teacher and student, content, pedagogical approaches, modes of delivery of education along with the change in the work culture of schools
  • For: Heads of schools, principals, educationists, curriculum planners, teacher-leaders, coordinators and promoters, sponsors and managers, officers in the department of education at state and national level, decision makers, policy makers, members of education regulating bodies, school administrators and teachers of international schools, residential schools, public schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, and Missionary schools, educational consultants, educational researchers, members of governing bodies of schools, executive members of various educational boards concerned with schools at national and state levels such as CBSE, ICSE, State Boards, and Matriculation board, and all those concerned with school education should participate.

    Contents: The significance of investing in people to ensure economic development and quality of living across the world is now universally acknowledged. School education is the main instrument for development and change, production and dissemination of knowledge, nation building and development of human resources for a competitive economy. The challenge before the school leaders is to generate the culture of excellence and creating the passion and sense of worth about teaching among the teachers, giving them independence and encouragement and, of course, mentoring leadership among colleagues.

    This programme addresses the topic of school leadership development from a multidisciplinary perspective and enables the participants to gain better insights and develop an understanding of evolving perspectives, worldviews, visions and purposes, which are needed to become excellent educational leaders. It covers a wide gamut of issues such as providing adequate infrastructure facilities, maintaining the competence and motivation of the teachers, students and staff, inclusive education, curriculum development, varied learning and teaching styles, stages of student development, inspired leadership, financial and human resources management in schools, managing stress and work-life balance, strategic planning of schools, ICT in schools, place of values and culture in schools, etc.
