Introducing IMI

International Management Institute (IMI), India's first corporate sponsored business school was established in 1981, as an autonomous non-profit educational society in collaboration with International Management Institute, Geneva.

As it completes 25 years in business education, IMI looks back at the past with pride and to the future with conviction that it will realize its vision of being a world class institution of management research and practice.

With over 3000 alumni in more than 10 countries, IMI India students have been crucial to the rapid progress of the institute. A collaborative spirit underlies the teaching and learning. Students not only become members of a specific MBA class but also help to shape the institution for those who follow. To encourage this process, alumni are involved in many aspects of student life; they now interview applicants and routinely take part in orientation activities by attending dinners and leading discussion groups. The goal is to help students understand both the benefits and the responsibilities that come with joining IMI. Several of IMI students have also pursued higher studies in North America and now teach in such IVY league institutions like MIT Sloan School of Management and Chicago Business School. IMI honours its alumni by conferring a distinguished alumnus award at the annual convocation.

Of the 40 full time faculty members, over 60 percent have a doctoral qualification from reputed Universities such as Wharton, Cornell, Rochester, Virginia, Maryland, Wisconsin-Madison, etc. Almost an equal percentage have industrial exposure too. IMI now enjoys an equal relationship with all its exchange partners in Europe, Australia and Asia. It is sought by business schools in the US for developing links for student and faculty exchange.

IMI remains mindful of the market and its needs and thus continuously upgrades is bouquet of offerings. This year a new course in HR management has been introduced. Further IMI has comprehensively restructured its flagship one year executive MBA programme after in depth consultation with industry. These changes will ensure that IMI continues to provide unsurpassed value to its stakeholders and enjoys their support in the manner it has during the last 25 years.
