Post-event Press-release The second day of the event started off with the talk by Mr. V. J. Prakash, MD, European Operations, Moser Baer. He talked about "Foreign Direct Investments" and gave some insights into financial Investments. He talked about changing times and changing paradigms in India after independence and correlated that to the financial investment market at present. According to him, IT, mobile technology and healthcare were some of the upcoming investment areas in India. He also talked about the recent clamour of investing in companies in foreign lands and said that that option should be exercised only when there is a strong Market access advantage. He also talked about the ideas behind Joint Ventures and triangle of collaborations and the importance of negotiations. The next session was by Prof. B. B. Chakrabarti, Professor, Finance, IIM Calcutta on Stock markets and Non-dividend Paying Companies. He started off by taking the audience on a small trip down the memory lane about the Stock market scene in India in the previous decades. He talked about some of the major developments in the Indian securities market, issues in domestic corporates, the issues related to equity capital share in companies going down and more. He concluded that India is moving towards a scene similar to a big shopping malls without any customers. There was a talk by the DGM of Indian Bank, Mr. Satyanarayanamurthy, who gave some very good perspectives about the situation in the present day banking scenario and pointed out some of the issues faced by India in her journey towards being a global player. Mr. Bharat Doshi, Executive Director, Mahindra & Mahindra and an executive on the Board of Governors of IIM K talked about "Liberalisation to Globalisation - The Mahindra Journey". His talk gave the students very meaningful insights to the nuances of globalisation and what it means for a country like India.
