At XIM Bhubaneswar

"... Six Sigma has turned the company's focus from inside to outside, changed the way we think and train our future leaders and moved us toward becoming a truly customer-focused organisation... Six Sigma has now become the language of leadership within GE..."

- Jack Welch
Former CEO, GE in GE's 2000 Annual Report

Starting with an inspiring note from none other than Jack Welch, who had identified and then propounded the immense application of this statistical quality tool at GE, the Workshop on Six Sigma was kicked off by Mr. Rakesh Rajora, Global Head, Knowledge Management Practice, Cognizant Technology Solutions. The workshop was held at Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar and bringing the workshop to the fore was X-Ops (Operations & Production Management Society of XIMB), the society devoted to the pursuit of excellence.

The workshop has been judged to be the best held till date and also the most inspiring.

Mr. Rajora was a Master Black Belt at GE Medical Systems, and was responsible for Six Sigma implementation in various other international GE businesses. He was also the Asia Six Sigma Champion at GE Medical Systems. Currently, he is the Global Head of Knowledge Management Practice at Cognizant Technology Solutions.

An excellent orator, Mr. Rajora kept the class enthralled with his energy throughout the 12-hour daylong session. He went on to cover areas like Evolution of Business Optimization imperatives, key concepts of Six Sigma, DMAIC roadmap, Statistical & Non-statistical tools used, Change Management initiatives, Six Sigma implementation challenges, Limitations to Six Sigma & Brief introduction to Lean Six Sigma.

Not only were the technical aspects stressed but also the human issues in successful implementation of Six Sigma. The importance of managing change was also dwelt upon.
