SEBI Chairman, M. Damodaran, Graces XIMB Convocation

Two years of hard work. Grueling sessions extending late into the nights. Home away from home. And then, suddenly one day, it's all over. The day when its time to celebrate the toils of body and soul. The day each one of them earned the esteemed business management diploma. Well, thats the story of convocation. And such was the arena at the 15th Annual Convocation of Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneshwar, better known as XIMB. The event was added spectral glory by the Chief Guest of the occasion, SEBI Chairman - Mr. M. Damodaran.

The occasion was marked by a jam-packed crowd in the mammoth auditorium of XIMB, located in the serene surroundings of the institute, considering the award winning garden at the college. Parents, relatives and friends made the occasion look all the more glamorous. The event began with the convocation parade led by the Dean of Academics, Prof. W. S. William. Other important luminaries included Director of the Institute, Father E. Abraham, Father George and Chairman of the Governing Board, Mr. Rajiv Kaul. This was followed by the faculty staff and the graduating students in the full glamour of the glittering robes. Each smile said a story of success in its own manner.

The ceremony started by the introduction from Dean (Academics) and then the dais was taken over by Father Abraham. He gave a real nice report of the year that went, including the beautiful speech, full of anecdotes. He was able to keep the audience bound by these and was also able to convey his message. A minute of silence was also observed for the death of an employee of the institute. This was followed by acknowledging the contribution of the teaching staff (the faculties) and the non-teaching staff, who have been with the institute for more than 15 years.

After this, came the luminating speech of Mr. Damodaran. He did seem to be reminded of his own days of college and his own convocation. Himself being a pass-out of a Jesuit organization, the speaker seemed to relate with the extensive rigor shown by the college in regard of producing efficient managers over the span of 15 years. He discoursed the students on the importance of following the ideals of the society and while doing, so being able to bring about a fruitful change too.
