Annual International Business Fest 'Intaglio' Concludes With a Fitting Finale at IIM Calcutta
Highlights of Intaglio Day 3

Day 3 was the final day of Intaglio and it gave a fitting finale to IIMC's flagship event. The finals of 5 events including the much talked-about Quizzical were completed. The high point of the day was the talk by the Honourable Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mr. Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, and the mega-investor and stock market guru, Mr. Rakesh Jhunjhunwala. These events were perfectly complemented by the soothing music concert by Grammy award winner Pandit Vishwamohan Bhatt who invented the "Mohan Veena". A rock show by Parikrama gave a perfect conclusion to Intaglio.

Blueprint - Develop a Plan for the Development of West Bengal

Blueprint was one of the most exciting events of Intaglio 06-07, IIM Calcutta's ISO certified International B-school Fest. The objective was to develop a business plan to help West Bengal grow and prosper as a whole, over sectors such as auto, food processing, IT and apparel. The innovative practical suggestions rendered by the participants reflected the possibilities galore for the development of the state.

The prime motivation towards setting up an event like Blueprint was the large potential that WB has in it to grow into one of the top performing states in India in accordance with the theme of Intaglio "Transforming Potential to Performance". With the corporate world investing more and more in WB, the time is ripe to set up Special Economic Zones (SEZs) as an added incentive.

Food processing emerged a clear favourite with five out of six finalists choosing this sector. Teams spoke about setting up and expanding the capacity of the cold storage facilities to improve the life and bring in more efficiency into supply chain by the state. Parameters such as export potential, country competitiveness, feasibility, capital intensity, spin-off benefits and quality of shared infrastructure were evaluated, and the advantages of SEZs such as single window clearance, scalability, lower investment requirements and tax holidays were discussed at great length.
