Annual International Business Fest 'Intaglio' Concludes With a Fitting Finale at IIM Calcutta

The preliminary round consisted of choosing the sector for growth - food processing, auto, IT or apparel, and rationalize why that sector could possibly be the chief driver of future growth. Out of a large number of entries, six teams were chosen for the finals, out of which five were related to the food processing industry, indicating a clear trend towards this sector. The detailed blueprints for logistics, supply chain management, cost estimates and other details were chosen by the teams under the mentorship of Feedback Ventures, a leading infrastructure company.

The final round consisted of presenting the proposal during Intaglio. The event was judged by top executives from Feedback Ventures - Mr. R. S. Ramasubramaniam, Vice Chairman, and Mr. Mukesh Khandelwal, President (Infrastructure Advisory) along with Mr. Kaushik Roy, Marketing Head of Reliance Infocomm. IIMC emerged winners amidst tough competition.

Maneuver - Online Multiplayer Game

On a day when the CM of West Bengal spoke to a packed gathering at IIMC, some teams in the audience had the challenging task of outmaneuvering their opponents awaiting them in a short while. The team of Jagdeep and Sharat from ISB, Hyderabad, continued their rocking performance at Intaglio 06-07 by bagging the top honours in Maneuver, the Supply Chain Game with a difference, at the CAMC, IIMC. In a keenly contested battle over a period of two hours, six teams - three from IIMC and one each from IIMA, ISB and NMIMS Mumbai racked their brains to build a supply chain for holiday travelers, putting themselves in the shoes of travel agents.

In this simultaneous move, real-time, online multiplayer game, the participants had to first bid for baskets of hotel rooms, air tickets and entertainment packages and then allocate these to a given set of clients keeping in mind their preferences. The winning team took an early lead and never relinquished it, winning in style with a final tally of over 10,000 points. It was really a sight to see the budding managers doing intense number crunching and taking split second decisions under time pressure. Using all resources at their disposal (Hail Excel!), the smarter ones managed to crack the myriad of numbers and come up with the magical portfolio that would see both their clients and themselves satisfied. At stake were three prizes of Rs. 25,000, Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 10,000. The team from IIMC, comprising Ramesh and Anurag bagged the second prize while the IIMA team stood a close third. Not bad for a few hours of hard work!
