MICA Launches Website for its Annual Theatre Fest, Sankalp

Previous

The event-year will be concluded in November with the much awaited Annual Play production, a showcase of creativity, talent and individual brilliance. The celebrations will last for three nights in Ahmedabad and will come to an end with two more grand performances in Mumbai.

Sankalp, as an event, started out in 1999 as the highlight theatre event of MICA and has evolved into an institution. Each year, in the month of December, creative and practical talent of almost every student of MICA pools in to deliver a taste of the finest that theatre has to offer.

Students Participating in a Play during Sankalp at MICA

Every activity associated with staging a play, from acting to direction to sounds to lights, to set design to music and even marketing and managing the event is carried out exclusively by students. It is the testament to the individual talents and collective will of these students of that in the nine years of Sankalp every single show has attracted a full house audience.

Renowned plays such as Girish Karnad's 'Tuglaq', 'Hayavadana', 'Sacrifice', Vijay Tendulkar's 'Encounter in Umbugland', Dharmavir Bharti's 'Suraj Ka Satwan Ghoda' and Woody Allen's 'Death' have been staged in the past.

Concluded.
