AMDISA and ISB Host Meeting of Deans from SAARC Countries

Previous

He elaborated on the various activities of the organisation - providing professional development opportunities for management faculty, promoting research in areas which are of relevance to South Asian management, helping member-institutions to undertake research, and finally integrating country reports for wider circulation.
The broader objective, Dr. Hassan stressed, was to "contribute to the development of South Asian academic perspectives, networks and communities in management and related areas."

Some other points brought up during the discussion was AMDISA's South Asian Accreditation system which, the members agreed, was apt to the South Asian clime. An important point of deliberation was the need for both quantity and quality in the number of management graduates in all these countries. Yet another discussion was to develop an individual competitive space rather than use a common yardstick for accreditation.

AMDISA, established in 1988, with the initiative of leading management development institutions in the SAARC region, is the only network association of management development institutions across the seven SAARC countries, which promotes partnership between various business schools, and enhances the quality of management education in South Asia.

Concluded.
