With these words by Mr. Colin Powell, the Moderator Mr. Bhaskar Joshi commenced the proceedings of this lively and interactive panel discussion on the various parameters and processes used by corporate to identify and nurture leaders who bring competitive advantage to the company they represent. The participants for this discussion were Mr. Annootam Ghosh, Business Director, ICI Uniquema Ltd., Mr. Sameer Bhariok, GM-HR, Godrej Industries, Mr. Kishor Bhalerao, VP-HR, Arrl Solutions and Mr. Suresh Mhatre, Principal Consultant, Tata Consultancy Services. All practicing managers, with extensive experience in leading people as well as selecting leaders, the panelists brought forth the complexity involved in developing an objective process of identifying leaders, planning their careers, as well as some of the traits that companies look out for in an individual to select him/her in this role. To sum up the learning from the day's proceedings, the scope of HR is growing from the role of an Implementer of strategy to the Strategist itself. And it is here that the bar gets raised for HR.
