IIM Calcutta Wins the First-ever International Final of Tata Crucible Campus Quiz 2009

The Tata Crucible Campus Quiz is one of the most awaited events for Indian college students, stimulating out-of-the-box thinking and mental agility. The regional rounds of the Tata Crucible Campus Quiz were held in 16 cities across India

starting from Jaipur on 14th February 2009. Nearly 3000 teams from various institutes across the nation participated in the regional rounds. Winners from the 16 regional rounds were put through 2 grueling semi-finals to qualify for the 8 team National Final.

The top 4 teams from each semi-final proceeded to the National Final. The National Finals saw an eclectic mix of teams from business schools and engineering colleges like IIM Calcutta, MICA Ahmedabad, IIM Indore, Christ University (Bangalore), College of Engineering (Chennai), NITK Surathkal, IIT Mumbai and IMT Ghaziabad.

Closing this landmark event, Mr. Giri Balasubramanium, the Quiz Master of Tata Crucible Campus Quiz 2009, said, "Sometimes, it does happen that you win the Man of the Match and Man of the Series on the same day, and when luck is on your side, no one can deny you the success." It was just such a day for Shobhit Bhatnagar and Ram Shankar of IIM-C.

The Tata Crucible Campus Quiz made its international debut in Singapore in 2007, with 2 editions of the quiz held successfully so far. The Tata Crucible Campus Quiz then traveled to London in 2008 for its debut UK edition, which saw participation of teams from top colleges across UK including London Business School, London School of Economics, Cambridge, Oxford, Warwick & Imperial College, among others.
