NITIE's Corridors Buzz With Industry's Heavyweights
Lakshya 2005: On October 14-16, 2005

Lakshya Business Visionary Awardees over the previous years have been Mr. Adi Godrej, Mr. Nandan Nilekani, Dr. Varghese Kurien, Mr. M S Ramachandran, Mr. Sunil Bharati Mittal, Mr. Jerry Rao, Mr. Ajit Balakrishnan, Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla, and Mr. S. Ramadorai.

Mr. M. S. Ramachandran, former Chairman of IOCL said, "'Lakshya' - the word that conjures up vivid images of lofty goals, unwavering focus, fearless concentrations and a binding sense of fulfillment. In the organizational context, this translates into 'vision', which always associated a Japanese proverb, which says - 'Vision without action is a daydream and action without vision is a nightmare'."

Lakshya, India's first on-the-job achievers' contest, is hosted in NITIE by the PGDIE students every year. This year it will be the seventh edition of the event. It is a platform for companies to present their successful projects to the jury and compete for the prestigious Lakshya Trophy in four modules: -

  • Supply Chain Management

  • Operations Management

  • Systems & IT Management

  • General & HR Management

Lakshya has become a benchmark in the industry to know the competitive status of an organization with others. Ashok Leyland had internal round of project selection process for Laskhya. Larsen & Toubro participants had internal round of presentation in front of their top managers so as to ensure best representation. BPCL's Mr. Sanjeev Singh Juneja, Senior manager (Shipping) said that they have implemented the concept of Lakshya within their organization in the year 2000 that generated more than 650 ideas since then.

Lakshya 2005 received 63 entries from various companies. The winners of Lakshya 2004 were Titan Industries Ltd, TVS Motor Companies Ltd, GE Software Solutions, and Johnson & Johnson Medical in the four modules conducted.

Lakshya doesn't stop at learnings from past, but ensures future growth as well. Spirit of Entrepreneurship is celebrated in Empresario, held in the final day of Lakshya. The event will witness the felicitation of Mr. Kishore Biyani, MD, Pantaloon India Retail Ltd. with, "Inspiring Leader for the Year 2005" award and Captain G R Gopinath, MD, Air Deccan, with felicitation of "Startup Entrepreneur of the Year 2005". The event is supported by TIE (The Indus Entrepreneurs) and Nirma Labs.
