The eminent members on the panel discussed whether supply chain management was a passing fad or a key to achieving long term competitive advantage and how companies can make use of different operations management techniques in their day-to-day activities.

This was followed by a Prize Distribution for Omega's Book Review Contest conducted at IIMK. The prizes were claimed by Anudeep Nagalia (1st) and Vinta Sudheera (2nd) for their excellent reviews of the books The Goal and The Mckinsey Way respectively.

The event was organized by OMEGA, the Operations Management student interest group at IIM Kozhikode. Balpreet Singh, student coordinator of OMEGA at IIMK said that the vision of OPUS is to bring together industry leaders and academia, thus moving closer towards the goal of making IIM Kozhikode the best B-school in India in Operations Management.

Delivering the vote of thanks, Dr. Saji Gopinath, faculty coordinator of the event said that the theme of the seminar was very pertinent, as the advent of globalization in India had ushered in new challenges for the Indian companies. He said that Indian companies are facing higher levels of competition in the market place, not only from other local players but also from multinationals. The industry being at crossroads, there is more scope for implementation of integrated supply chain management, logistics and distribution management and shifted focus to new quality methodologies like Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and TQM.

The Alumni of IIM Kozhikode scattered across the world praised this initiative and felt that the event was another step towards making IIMK a world-class destination for Operations Management.

Concluded.
