XLRI to partner Government of Jharkhand

The Jharkhand State Ministry of Health signed a MoU recently with XLRI Jamshedpur to act as a Resource Centre to improve the Health Care services being given to its citizens. Other signatories to the MoU will be the Government of India and USAID. While XLRI would be the single window Resource Centre for co-ordination efficiency, it would have many partners, including IIT Madras, ORG - Marg and Tata Main Hospital carrying out various tasks.

XLRI is one of India's finest B-schools and is widely considered to be Asia's best HR institute. XLRI, is also partnering The Planning Commission, Government of India for the Jharkand Development Report. It has been chosen as the Resource Centre for making change possible.

Purpose

The State Government is keen to dramatically improve the Health Care services being given to its citizens. Government of India and USAID have also come forward to support the new drive for effecting major improvements in the Health Services and particularly in the area of Reproductive Child Health (RCH).

Overall Strategy

After six months of Workshops, Seminars, Brain-storming and analytical sessions involving several hundred professionals from the State and Central Government's Health Ministries, International Donors, NGOs (Internationally, National and Local), Social Workers, Bankers and Academics - it was decided that the only path to success would be through: -

  • A holistic plan (not piecemeal inputs)

  • A central impartial trustworthy coordinating agency (not multidirectional uncoordinated inputs)
