New Batch Enters XLRI Jamshedpur

Previous

Nearly 35 % of the PMIR batch has had prior work experience while over a half (54 %) of the BM batch constitutes this segment. The average work experience is 12 months.

Catch 'em young is a buzzword in the management parlance and true to it the average age of the students joining XLRI is 22 years.

The institute has an interesting mix of cultures with students hailing from virtually all corners of the country. This also bolsters the fact that XLRI commands an unassailable brand equity across the country.

The Director, Father Casimir Raj, SJ who steps into the shoes of Father P. D. Thomas this year, sees the continuation of the doubling of Business Management strength and an increase in the number of students as a service to both students and the Industry. The number of students applying to XLRI has been increasing year after year and many eligible aspirants are turned away because of the small batch size. An increase in batch size would be able to accommodate many of the deserving candidates. The increase in the profile of students with work experience also addresses the concern of many top companies that come down for campus recruitment.

When asked about the industry feedback about both the increase, he said, "The response from the industry has been positive. Teamwork, loyalty, hard work, dependability and ability to take on extra responsibility are the qualities unique in 'XLers', and companies are looking forward to hiring more students this year."

The students view the increase in a favorable light too. They have also taken to the unique culture of XLRI - the bond between the seniors and the juniors. The batch of 2006 is all set to fulfill the dreams and aspirations with which they came here. And it appears that this talented lot will carry forward the tradition of XLRI.
