We Share Values
Human body is not about rational thinking and logics. We are bundle of emotions. We would live and die for emotions. Companies are trying to achieve this aspect of human in their organization. Hence, they are following certain values. How about strategic intent! Each individual has some values by which he always stands by. Values which give direction whenever in a dilemma about any situation. Values of person enhance his credibility; he is known and trusted by others because of his values. Similarly, values in company play a very vital role in the company. It gives direction to its employees; many problems are solved because of company's values. Employees are motivated because of the company's adherence to the certain values.
Strategic Inflection Points in Our Lives
Is life a smooth ride or a travel on Indian roads? Does our external environment remain the same? No, its keep changing and life is also not a smooth ride. We human have to keep adapting to our external environment. We take some time to acclimatize to changed environment but we do adapt and those who are not able to adapt, perish. The same is true with companies. They have to be ready and keep looking for omens, which can signal change. These changes are well discussed by Andrew Grove in his famous book "only the paranoid can survive". He says that there is certain time in every company's life where its surrounding changes.
He calls this point as strategic inflection point. These are the points in time where fundamentals of the business are changed. This is the point where a set assumptions and perception about a business is changed. Every company faces a strategic inflection points in its life due change in consumer preferences, due to change in technology or for some other reason. Do we also have these sorts of points in our lives? Well, everyone has from birth till death we are affected by my forces; our perceptions about life keep changing. Hence, our way of doing our business of life keeps changing. A couple's life perception changes when they become parents; again there is a big change in thinking when a fresh graduate gets his first job.
