  1. General Questions
  2. Questions related to Pre-MBA Preparation
  3. Questions related to Group Discussion / Group Exercise
  4. Interview-related Questions
  5. After Joining MBA

Q. How did you prepare for the interview?
Ans. My coaching institute conducted mock interviews and provided feedback for every interview and hence I worked upon my weaker areas. I talked to the seniors and students in various B-schools learning from their experiences.

Q. Date and location of Interview. Were you given the option to choose the date and place for interview? Was the interview date fixed or re-scheduled couple of times? Was the interview venue changed or scheduled as per your convenience?
Ans. The process of 2009 did not allow choosing a date however from 2010 onwards our institute allows online selection of the GD/PI slots. I was slotted for 8th Mar 2009. There was no rescheduling and the process was very well managed by our seniors.

Q. Can you tell us about the panel that interviewed you?
Ans. The panel consisted of a professor from the institute, an alumnus and a person from the industry. The professor taught statistics in our institute and the alumni was working in a leading FMCG company in India.

Q. How long was your interview?
Ans. 35-40 minutes

Q. What kind of questions were you asked? Were they specific to any particular area?
Ans. They started off with general questions about me, moving on to my education (apparel manufacture at NIFT, Delhi) and then about the various activities I was involved in. Moving on to the technical questions, I was enquired about various forecasting techniques used in the fashion Industry, the accuracy of those techniques & the comparative advantages of these techniques. Apart from this, I was asked to do a SWAT analysis of the Indian apparel Industry.

Q. What were the first question, the most interesting question, and the most difficult question?
Ans. First Question: Why NIFT
Most Interesting Question: Why MBA from SJMSOM
Most Difficult Question: (being a fresher) Why not an MBA after gaining          a couple of years of experience.

Q. While facing the panel, were you confident, did you feel prepared?
Ans. Yeah. I was confident and tried to give it my best shot. Though, when I came back from the interview room, I thought of a couple of clever arguments which I could have given and incidentally missed.

Q. Write a brief about your Interview experience.
Ans. My interview experience was one of those which I would call "Good, but could have better"; given the stature of the institute and its standing amongst contemporaries. The panel was pretty chilled out and I tried to be as confident as possible, without altering my inner self. But, as is the case usually, after a walked out of the room, a couple of things struck me which I should have said.

Q. Was any feedback given to you? What feedback did you receive from the panel at the end of session?
Ans. A positive and energetic handshake from one of the members in the panel. I thought I gave a good performance and struck an impact.

Q. How would you rate your performance in the Interview?
Ans. (On a scale of 10): 7.5

Q. Areas where you could have performed better in your interview?

Ans.
  • My presence of mind
  • Composure
  • Q. Give some handy tips regarding interview that would be of great help to MBA aspirants.

    Ans.
  • Be energetic and cheerful
  • If you are not sure of the answer, tell them honestly. Don't pay the guessing game with the panel.
  • Remember: You just have to be your normal self to crack an interview.
  • Do not buckle down at all under pressure.
  • Even if things are not going your way, do not surrender at any stage.
