2. Admission Process

Q: How can one procure the application form for the various programs offered by your institute? What are the application submission deadlines?

  • The application form can be downloaded from the website for both One Year PGPM as well as Two Year Weekend Executive MBA.
  • The last date for application is 30th March 2010 for 1 year PGPM
  • For 2 year Weekend Executive MBA the applications can be made throughout the year for the next batch. Usually, there are 2 batches per year for EMBA.
  • Q: Please explain the various stages in admission process (along with time line) for each of the program offered by you. (E.g., written test, interview, group discussions, etc.)

    Selection process at EABS is a three tier process. Detailed application form screening along with Test Scores (CAT, GMAT and XAT) Followed by Group Discussion and Personal Interview. Also if the student has not appeared for any test he can take the EABS Test which is a mixture of both aptitude and Attitude testing.

    Test/GD-PI Dates: 27th and 28th March 2010 and 24th and 25th April 2010

    Q: What is the most important stage/ aspect of the entire process (with maximum weightage)?

    Here at EABS we believe in holistic evaluation of a candidate. We evaluate an individual on various aspects like score in Tests, his /her academics, his/her personality etc.

    Q: What are the skills/qualities you want to test during written exam, interview and GD?

  • Written Test: Aptitude/Personality Skills
  • Interview: Communication, Overall Personality traits
  • GD: Communication, Overall Personality traits
  • Q: How do you ensure the diversity of the class?

    We try to create a balanced profile by selecting students from all kind of backgrounds like Engineering, Commerce, and Humanities.

    Academic Background

    Q: Are engineers more preferred over non-engineers?

    We do not have such differentiation rather emphasis is on interpersonal skills and individual merit.

    Q: Is there a separate cut-off for engineers and non-engineers? Do you evaluate the two types of candidates differently?

    No

    Q: How important are grades in the selection process?

    They are one of the parameters in the selection process.

    Work Experience

    Q: How important is work experience for the selection?

    We prefer people with work experience. However, outstanding fresher's are welcome to apply. The typical batch is 20% fresher's and 80% students with work-ex.

    Q: What kind of work experience is preferred?

    Any relevant work experience.

    Q: What is the school's ideal amount of work experience?

    The average work exp so far is around 2+ Years

    Q: Are applicants with one year of work experience evaluated differently than candidates with five years under their belts?

    We treat all of them equally after joining the program. More than the experience the exposure matters.

    Q: How much professional experience is too much? Is a candidate, say with 12 years of work experience, going to fit into the program?

    Candidates with very high experience for eg 12 years, we recommend them for our part-time program. However, there is no bar on taking candidates with high experience.

    Interview

    Q: What kinds of questions can an interviewee expect to hear during an interview?

    Questions Range from general awareness, analytical skils to personal ambitions. The Idea is to evaluate an individual in all the aspects.

    Q: What attributes are you looking for when you interview candidates?

    We look for his commitment for managerial role in future. Whether the candidate is suitable to take challenges, whether management education is fit for him and what value he/she can provide to the professional field.

    Q: How long do your interviews last?

    25-40 Minutes

    Q: Is a long interview better than a short interview?

    Depends on the individual candidate.

    Group Discussions

    Q: What do you want to learn about candidates in GDs?

    Communication Skill, Confidence level and Awareness

    Q: Do you expect a thorough knowledge of the topic being discussed?

    Not expected but preferred.

    Q: What is the worst thing a candidate can do during GD?

    Create a Chaos.

    General

    Q: How can applicants convince you and your staff that they are a good match for the program?

    By giving their truthful and best shot.

    Q: What's the worst thing an applicant can do during the selection process?

    Fake his credentials.

    Q: Fill-in-the-blank:

    1. Applicants should apply to your program if they're interested in: Overall Development in their Career with Innovation and Entrepreneurship mindset.
    2. And on the other side of the coin? MBA candidates should not apply to your program if they're interested in: Just Placements

    Q: Well, what general characteristics is the B-school looking for?

    Super in any of the fields mentioned below.

    2. Work experience
    3. Any other attribute

    Q: What does the school want to learn through the admission process? Are there things that people do that are more appreciated by the admissions committee?

    Admission committee do their best to give candidates right information through blogs, forums, phone or mailers. We can to make the process of selection absolutely transparent and enjoyable experience for candidates.

    Q: Which aspect of the application should an applicant be most concerned with to make himself /herself a competitive player?

    He should be honest in giving information about himself/herself and try to be precise when writing answers.
