Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, has stepped into the new millennium with the best ever recruitments in its 13 years of history. The placement week started with a bang with companies competing with one another to get the best people. Finance made its mark with companies like Global Trust Bank, IFCI, GE Countrywide, ICICI, and HDFC wooing students with attractive packages. Marketing retained its evergreen flavour with companies like Chaitra Leo Brunett, ORG MARG, TITAN, Pidilite, IMRB, A V Birla Group, Godrej Boyce, Godrej Soaps, Cavin Kare, EID Parry and Berger Paints occupying the top slots. But ultimately, the attractions of the 3-day programme were the IT MNC's like Compaq, Infosys, Wipro, Trigent, BFL Software, Polaris, Satyam Infoway, Satyam Enterprise Solutions, TIS, LTIT, Ubest and dot com start-ups like IRIS along with KPMG, Mckinsey, who picked up students for their consulting assignments. The salaries also shot through the sky with Trigent offering an overseas placement with a package of US $ 75,000. KPMG took two students offering up to Rs. 5 lakhs per annum.

All in all, there were 44 companies that visited XIMB to recruit students for final and summer placements. The average salary offered this year also shot up by more than 60% from that of last year to 3.9 lakhs per annum. The recruitment programme, which was expected to last five days, concluded in just three. A few companies returned without being able to recruit any student.
