2. Questions related to Pre-MBA Preparation

Q. How many months and how many hours daily did you devote for preparation to entrance procedures?
A. I was working and therefore couldn't spend much time for preparation, however, since my basics were pretty strong owing to my preparation during Engineering, all I needed to do was to get back my speed which I did mainly by solving question papers. The preparation lasted for around 2 and a half months and was mostly centered around weekends. Apart from this, I used the 2 hour commute from work to home as preparation time.

Q. Did you take up some coaching institute or you believed in self-study?
A. Self-study is the way I went since I couldn't spare time for coaching classes.

Q. Can you tell us which are your favorite books, books that you used for preparing for entrance, books for self-development and books for pure relaxation?
A. I read anything and everything. For preparation, I found reading magazines worked best, especially general ones like India Today. I read the "Monk Who Sold His Ferrari" and 'The Alchemist" and any Wodehousian novel for relaxation.

Q. When did you start for preparation?
A. In July 2004. About 1-2 hours everyday for 2 months and 5-6 hours every weekend.

Q. Did you go for any coaching?
A. No coaching, only mock tests.

Q. What are the others books and tests which you used for your MBA preparation?
A. Verbal: "Word Power Made Easy" by Norman Lewis.

Q. What was your strongest and weakest area while preparing for MBA coaching?
A. Weakest: Quant; Strongest: Verbal.

Q. Some tips which you used for mastering Quant, RC, etc.
A. RC: Read a lot to improve reading speed. During exams, read the entire passage before attempting questions.

Q. How much time did you put for MBA preparation everyday? How did you manage this while working full time?
A. Put in around 1-2 hours everyday. Mostly managed it during the commute time from home to office. Other than that weekends were devoted for preparation.

Q. Which all Exams and B-schools you applied to?
A. CAT, IIFT, FMS.

Q. Your present B-school and course.
A. IIM Kozhikode.

Q. What procedures your school has for admission to its MBA program?
A. GD (Article Discussion) and Interview.

Q. What is the range of score for students who are admitted?
A. 98+ percentile in CAT.

Q. What was your score?
A. 99.52 percentile.

Contd.   3. Questions related to Group Discussion / Group Exercise
