Post-event Press Release - November 8, 2004 The conference attracted participation from some of the leading companies in India in different sectors, viz., Cognizant Technology Solutions, Tata Consultancy Services, Wirpo, Infosys, Tata Steel, Cummins India, Reliance Infocomm, PWC, E&Y, ICICI Bank, SAP India, Microsoft Corporation, TRAI and Hindustan Petroleum. The key speakers for the IT in Banking and Financial Services Vertical were Mr. Aditya Biswas, Principal Consultant, Banking Industry Practice, Tata Consultancy Services and Mr. Ramesh Bhatt, Product Manager, Credit and smart cards, ICICI Bank. The session was coordinated by Mr. B. P. Srivastava, Tata Steel. The session focussed on the key technological advancements made in the banking system; how the focus today is shifting from cash to plastic to make transactions simpler and increase margins for the bank and on how IT helps in achieving it. The speakers for the second session on IT in Human Resources Vertical were Mr. N. S. Rajan, Partner, Human Capital, Ernst & Young and Mr. Purendra Kishore, Business Manager, SAP India. The session focussed on taking advantage of the technology available and applying human elements to it to make the organizations truly grow. The next session focussed on IT in the Telecommunications vertical. The key speakers were Mr. R. N. Gupta, Advisor, Converged Networks, TRAI; Mr. Probal Bhattacharya, Principal Consultant, PwC, and Mr. Tarun Kumar, Head of Enterprise Resource System, Reliance Infocomm. The session gave an interesting insight into the various technologies that are currently being used and the cost and affordability issues that are associated with them. The speakers also discussed specific case studies with respect to implementation of some of the mega telecom projects. The session was coordinated by Mr. V. K. Choubey, Joint Secretary IT, Jharkahand. The other area of focussed included the Manufacturing Vertical. The key speakers in the sessions were Mr. Varun Jha, CIO, Tata Steel; Mr. Jatin Seth, Platform Strategy Advisor, Microsoft Corporation; Mr. Sunil Chitale, Head of Manufacturing SBU, Patni Computer Systems and Mr. Karthik Iyengar, Wipro.
