By putting them into a two dimensional matrix as depicted below, a clearer picture of the above discussed segregation method can be obtained: -

By Means of the Service Provided

Another process of segregation is by means of the service provided by the BPO organizations. Traditionalists would split the industry into Voice-based Processes and Non-Voice-based Processes. We would dig even further into it.

  • Voice
          * In-bound Calling
          * Out-bound Calling

  • Non Voice
          * Data Entry
          * Transaction
          * Technical Help-desk
          * E-Mail (In-bound & Out-bound)

    The above given sub-group is just an indicative list, and may not be comprehensive. Our interest here is not to provide a comprehensive list, but to list down the major areas of service, so that it can facilitate the risk assessment study which is discussed later.
