Present Scenario - Indian IT Companies

Industry across the Globe witnessed steady growth in 2005, with huge investments in IT/ITeS industry from European countries and US. Outsourcing continued to be the buzz word with most major service providers following Global Delivery model. This year also saw Indian IT majors scaling new heights.

Indian Software Industry has come of age, with expertise in skills and areas like design and implementation of management information, banking, retail, insurance, airline industry and next generation systems. Transforming from the India-centric vision to global mindset, this year saw Indian IT companies going across the borders, building worldwide presence through acquiring companies across the globe, like China, Europe and many others. This was complemented with expansion of the portfolio in the offshore centre: India, with entrance in varied new technologies and sectors.

IT/ITeS industry has grown at a CAGR (Compounded Annual Growth Rate) of over 28% since 1999-00. Over the same period, industry’s contribution to the national income has increased from 1.9 percent in 1999-00 to 4.8 percent in 2005-06, with IT services sector contributing 47 percent of the total.
