Teleglobe International Holdings, acquired in February 2006, is the latest jewel in the crown.

A leading provider of international telecommunications services to ISPs, fixed and mobile network operators, Teleglobe will make VSNL the fifth-largest global carrier of voice minutes. "The Teleglobe acquisition was based on key synergy areas, including complementary global infrastructure and product offerings, as well as a shared culture," says Mr Srinath director of operations, VSNL about the $239-million deal.

With these acquisitions, VSNL now owns and operates one of the world's largest international mobile, data and voice networks, providing 1,4005 wholesale customers and 650 enterprise customers with coverage to more than 240 countries and territories. Each new acquisition brings VSNL closer to its dream, of becoming one of the world's largest providers of voice, internet, and bandwidth services. Still there seems some more distance to be covered and there can be some more acquisitions on card for VSNL. It has its eyes wide open for any international opportunity.
