Management Lessons from Motion Picture 'Sarkar'

"An army of a thousand is easy to find, but ah, how difficult to find a general."

About the Movie

Sarkar

Tagline: When the system fails, a power will rise.

Subhash Nagare (Amitabh Bachchan) is 'Sarkar', the man who re-writes the law. He possesses the magnetism, aptitude and power to control the workings of the city. He even meets out justice when the common man does not get it from the law-keepers.

Sarkar is a K Sera Sera Production and was released on July 1, 2005, and said to be Ram Gopal Verma's tribute to the 'Godfather'. However, it is not about organised crime. The film revolves around a politician and his family.

Main Cast & Their Roles in Movie

Amitabh Bachchan: The legendary Bachchan is the main protagonist of the film and plays the lead role of Subhash Nagare.

Abhishek Bachchan: The junior Bachchan is Shankar Nagare, the son of Subhash Nagare.

K. K. Menon: Plays the role of Vishnu Nagare, also the son of Subhash Nagare.

Katrina Kaif: She is paired opposite Abhishek in the film.

The Promo

The promo of Sarkar kicks-off with a Mahatma Gandhi quote: "Think Rightly, Act Rightly, Live Rightly". This spell breaks with Amitabh's voice booming out, "Mujhe jo theek lagta hai, main vohi karta hoon." (I do things that look right to me.)

Story Plot

Sarkar is the story of an indigenous, modern, salt-pepper-haired Robin Hood (Amitabh Bachchan) who runs a parallel government to help the needy. His two sons - Vishnu (K. K. Menon) and Shankar (Abhishek Bachchan) are a study in contrast. The rough-as-a-ruffian Vishnu hates his father for whatever he stands for and calls him a hypocrite, while the US-returned Shankar adores and worships the man. Vishnu, also a film-producer, kills the hero of his film, and is thrown out of the house by his father.
