Indian Advantage

Today, MNCs are rushing into India to stake a claim to the IT outsourcing market. According to a NASSCOM-McKinsey report, the IT-enabled services export from India is expected to grow to more than $21 billion by 2008. India expects to create 2 million jobs in the next decade in offshore BPO.

India is an ideal offshore destination due to a variety of advantages it has over other countries. These are:-

Skilled Manpower

Manpower is the main reason for India's competitive advantage in the global BPO industry. The factors contributing to this advantage are their excellent communication skills, large number of English speaking people (Second in world) and a superior education system which provides a unique blend of technical knowledge and communication skills. Another great quality that people in India have is adaptability. They are very friendly and willing to learn and change according to western cultures.

Top Quality Resources

In the last few years, the Indian IT firms have started striving for the highest international standards of quality. Indian players have created a strong value proposition in the IT software and services arena. Today, the Indian IT software and services industry is renowned for its good quality and high price performance.

Most of the large domestic players have achieved SEI CMM Level 5 assessment. More than 500 Indian software companies have acquired quality certifications and more companies are in the pipeline to do so. The other heartening feature has been the growing acceptance and adoption of the newly emerging People-Capability Maturity Model (People-CMM) by the Indian software industry.
