Just in Time

It is a management idea that attempts to eliminate sources of manufacturing waste by producing the right part in the right place at the right time. JIT is a tool that enables the internal process of a company and adapt to sudden changes in the demand pattern by producing the right product at the right time and in the right quantities.

In the manufacturing process, size of batches are related to potential errors in part/production, i.e., smaller batches such as used in JIT systems will potentially reduce the average error per part/production population.
