Bluetooth - A New Era in Retail Advertising

  • USP: It is a unique technology. So company can use it to differentiate themselves from its competitors. It will also increase the footfall of customer which will increase the impulse buying. Because it will be attractive to the new generation customers.

  • As a source of Income: Bluetooth technology can use as a source of income for the retailer. Retailer can earn extra money by promoting the brands of other companies.

  • Feature Simplicity: Bluetooth is a very easy technology which can be used by anyone without knowing anything about it.

    • Disadvantages of Bluetooth Technology in Retail Business

    Every technology has some advantages as well as disadvantages. So is the case with Bluetooth technology also. It has several advantages and some disadvantage. Bluetooth technology can be used in retail business if target customer has Bluetooth enabled mobile phone. But most of the Indian customers still don't have Bluetooth enabled mobile phones. And most of them those who have such mobile phones don't have an idea regarding Bluetooth technology. To overcome this problem company has to give huge advertisement for the first time. Another problem is that, some people have a fear regarding the Bluetooth. They think that if they use Bluetooth anyone can send virus through Bluetooth and that is true. But the thing is when you will open your Bluetooth in your mobile, it will give you an option that these are the device is there in your range and they want to send some thing through Bluetooth. Do you want to receive this? If you ignore that, nobody can send any information to your mobile. One more problem is that what will be the initial investment? So, different types of pros and cons are there.

    Conclusion

    Bluetooth technology is a short-range wireless specification aimed at simplifying communications among two or more than two. The impression that Bluetooth has made is remarkable. But still Indian customers are not using technology for purchasing their goods due to fear. If retailer can come up with huge advertisement regarding that Bluetooth technology and if they can assure the security of that technology then we can enter into an inexpensive wireless global market which will be a new era of retail advertisement.
