The seven examples detailed in the above table show how various forces, viz., regulatory & macroeconomic, industry dynamics, infrastructural, and human, all can combine to create an environment in which major manufacturing improvements can be made by adoption of lean practices.

Examples from Other Industries

Although the auto components industry has led the way in quality focus in Indian manufacturing, the quality revolution has not stopped with this industry alone. Various other companies in a variety of industries have also achieved excellent quality standards through adoption of quality standards. The following table details some of them (note that the data on specific practices adopted and specific benefits accrued is much less precise than for the auto components industry): -
