Financial and Implementation Issues

There are Financial and Implementation issues in the way of security measures as well. The comprehensive perspective of 'enterprise as a whole' also poses budget and implementation issues.

Outsourcing security

Outsourcing of IT security is another area which is the cause of apprehension for many enterprises. While enterprises can't completely outsource their entire security setup, it is necessary to have fully dedicated people to evaluate, and implement it. The reason is that IT security requires highly specialized and dedicated teams. This may not be a core priority for many companies who may prefer to concentrate more on their core business. So it makes more sense for such companies to outsource security.

The level of security outsourcing will depend on the company's comfort levels and are bound to vary in each organization. Periodical IT audits is another aspect of security that can be outsourced. These audits are of great use in evaluating the strength of an organization's security infrastructure.

Dedicated Security Professionals

Security requires independent treatment - separate from IT. This realization has led to many organizations going in for a team of dedicated security professionals focusing full time on IT security. A Chief Security Officer (CSO) is yet another IT security trend that many Indian organizations will need to adopt. The CSO will be responsible for handling the security infrastructure of an organization.

Conclusion

Though Enterprise Security is becoming increasingly important for all organizations yet, apart from the Banking & Finance segment, Indian enterprises have been slow to implement a security policy and deploy security solutions. While the larger companies allocate IT budgets (and spend on security solutions), it seems that smaller organizations are contended with less expensive solutions like Antivirus.

The picture emerging however is showing signs of changing mindsets of Indian companies. Many enterprises have implemented security initiatives on improvised technology driven security postures. With this trend likely to continue the Indian Enterprise Security market is poised for significant growth in revenues. For the players who are entering the Security market, the growth of 50% clocked over the year 20004-2005 is a clear sign of opportunities that the market has to offer.

Concluded.
