Many vendors and consultants claim that a maturing services market reflects growing tendency among Indian enterprises to outsource their security requirements as well as management to specialist third party service providers. Even the product vendors are opening up their services arm to take care of this trend.
Vendors like Symantec, McAfee, Trend Micro, and CA generated substantial revenues from services also.

The growing services market is however still primarily constituted by the after sales maintenance services offered by the product vendors rather than outsourcing security management. India is still conservative in matters of security as compared to other areas of IT where outsourcing is becoming well-established trend.

Content and Identity Management emerged as a key segment within the security space. Enterprise application players like IBM, HP, Sun, BEA Systems and Oracle have come up with their Identity Management solutions during the last year giving company to vendors like RSA, iSafeNet etc.

The market share of various security solutions for the year 2004-2005 is shown in the table below.

If the 35% growth in security products is not good enough, services clocked a healthy 74% growth figure. The total security services market during 2004-05 was Rs 157 crore.
