Q. Can you tell something about yourself and your pre-MBA qualifications?
A. I was in the Energy Sector as an HR Professional for the last 8 years. I worked in various roles in HR ranging from Human Resource Development, Administration, Welfare, and Organizational Change initiatives. Prior to that, I had done my Master's in Psychology from University of Allahabad - a two-year professional programme with specialization in HRDM.

Q. Tell us something about your life before and beyond MBA.
A. My job position was quite challenging and I was always putting in extra hours of work to meet the targets. My organization was having many units across the country and the Unit where I was working was having around 1200 employees. Initiating and managing change initiatives there was a tough task. So, I was busy most of the time talking to people in order to implement HR policies. Now, in this new setting (while doing MBA), things have been different though my daily schedule has become even tighter. The difference is that here I learn new things each day, I get time to reflect on my experience and get new insights. I have been fortunate in having full support of my wife during this endeavour, while she takes care of our new-born baby.

Q. So when did you decide to go for MBA?
A. During my job, I realized that I was having a keen interest in strategic management issues. However, with the existing competencies, it was difficult to bridge the gap. So I decided to go for a one-year executive management programme that would help me in developing those competencies.

Q. Will an MBA degree add on to your existing career plan or did you decide to switch/start a career in management?
A. I was already in a managerial role. A one-year programme especially designed to meet the requirements of experienced executives was something which I was looking for, so that I can get a broader perspective and move up the career path.

Q. Which MBA institutes and programmes you identified for your MBA?
A. One year programmes from IIMs, ISB Hyderabad & S. P. Jain, Mumbai.

A. Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow - One-Year Full-Time International Programme in Management for Executives (IPMX). Batch of 2008-09.
