  • The Set Covering Location Model

    Solving the above Set Covering Location Model will give the no. and location of Warehouses.

    Step 4: Logistics Management

    After locating the warehouse sites, now the next step is to identify the modes of transportation for addressing different types of needs, route management for transportation.

  • Firstly the mode of transportation has to be decided upon for the different types of DSREs. As some of the supplies need cold supply chain for maintaining quality, while others like communication setups, generators may need heavy utility vehicles.

  • As it is not possible to keep the entire logistics infrastructure with single hospital organization. So a Third Party Logistics Provider can looked upon for arranging transportation services.

    Step 5: Information Management

    Information Management in the Supply Chain Management maintains all the links of chain together in the desired sequence.

  • As many hospitals and relief organizations work together in providing assistance during disaster, so it is required to share information to avoid duplication of efforts by different organizations. A single point shared information center can also in streamlining the activities of disaster management.
