Q. How did you prepare for the interview?
Ans. Prepared about my personal info regarding myself, family, state, education, work-ex, interests, strengts, weaknesses etc . Basically its more about knowing yourself in a better way,

  1. Why MBA?
  2. Why this institute?
  3. Long term and short term goals?

Q. How many interview calls did you get and from which institutes? How many and which ones of these could you actually convert to a Final Call?
Ans. 6 Interview calls -

  1. 3 from XLRI Jamshedpur (BM, PMIR and GMP(1 Yr. Executive Program))- Converted GMP
  2. 1 from FMS Delhi- Not converted
  3. 1 from IIT Bombay- Converted
  4. 1 from SIBM Pune - Converted

Q. Date and location of Interview. Were you given the option to choose the date and place for interview? Was the interview date fixed or re-scheduled couple of times? Was the interview venue changed or scheduled as per your convenience?
Ans. 8th March 2009, IIT Bombay. Yes for date only flexibility for change was there. I didn't change my date. Interview venue was IIT Bombay only.

Q. Can you tell us about the panel that interviewed you?
Ans. Panel had 2 members - One an Alumni of SJMSOM, IIT Bombay working in Industry. Other- Faculty of SJMSOM, IIT Bombay.

Q. How long was your interview?
Ans. 3o Mins.

Q. What kind of questions were you asked? Were they specific to any particular area?
Ans. Started with Tell us sthg about yourself. And then around 20 mins was on my Work ex in 3 different domains of Operations, Marketing and Projects Division of SAIL. Later on my interests i.e sports-general questions, General Awareness questions related to india.

Q. What were the first question, the most interesting question, and the most difficult question?
Ans. 1st Question - Tell us sthg about yourself.

  • Most Interesting Question - Factors affecting the development of sports in India.
  • Most difficult Question - Related to Work Ex- technical details, in depth enquiry.
  • Q. While facing the panel, were you confident, did you feel prepared?
    Ans. Yes, I was fully confident and adequately prepared.

    Q. Write a brief about your Interview experience.
    Ans. Started with Tell us sthg about yourself. And then around 20 mins was on my Work ex in 3 different domains of Operations, Marketing and Projects Division of SAIL. Later on my interests i.e sports-general questions, General Awareness questions related to india. (About 100 words)

    Q. Was any feedback given to you? What feedback did you receive from the panel at the end of session?
    Ans. General Feedback- Good one.

    Q. How would you rate your performance in the Interview?
    Ans. 8/10 (On a scale of 10)

    Q. Areas where you could have performed better in your interview?
    Ans. A little bit more prepared about the technicalities of my Work-ex.

    Q. Give some handy tips regarding interview that would be of great help to MBA aspirants.
    Ans. Self Knowledge

            Practice a lot.
