Q. Was Group Discussion or Group Exercise part of selection process?
A. We had only Group Discussion.

Q. What was your GD topic?
A. IPL - Can it be postponed due to elections.

Q. The duration of Group Discussion, size of the group, number of panelists, etc.
A. The GD started off with 2 minutes preparation time. The size of the group was about 8 and there were 3 panelists.

Q. Were there any set norms of Group Discussion?
A. There were only the standard norms, to talk only relevant to the given topic and to stick to the time.

Q. Do write a brief about your Group Discussion experience.
A. We were 8 members in the group and 2 minutes were given for preparation on the topic 'IPL-should it be postponed in the light of elections'. This being a topic in current affairs, we had to have a fair idea of the happenings and the implications. One of the members started off the discussion, by saying that we have to conduct the IPL as it is a question of India's competence in public safety and security. A few of them disagreed with him. I spoke on the third instance, giving the amount of money involved in both and the government should also think in terms of this given to the fact that we were facing a recession. After listening to other points I got a chance to speak on two more occasions. There was one member who spoke very little. Later, only 4 of us were shortlisted for the PI.

Q. How was the environment during discussion?
A. It was very competitive. But then, we did not create a fish market situation. Most of us got a chance to put forth our points.

Q. Describe your impression of your team members and overall Group Discussion Process?
A. As I had observed, there were 5 of us who got the majority of the chances to speak. There was one person who did not contribute to the discussion at all and the panel finally had to ask her to put forth her viewpoints.

Q. How would you rate your performance in Group Discussion?
A. 8 / 10.

Q. Areas where you could have performed better in your Group Discussion?
A. I could have started the discussion. I could not because at the same time I got a call on my mobile, I had my mobile in Vibrate mode instead of Silent. This distracted me and I missed the chance.

Q. Give some handy tips regarding Group Discussion or Group Exercise that would be of great help to MBA aspirants.
A. My sincere advice: Don't take your mobile into the GD room and interview room! In a GD, even if you are not able to start, if you are able to make a few strong points which lead to a discussion, that will create a good impact.
